The Minister of Sanitation and Water Resources, Mrs. Cecilia Abena Dapaah is encouraging entrepreneurs, particularly the youth, to venture into waste recycling.
Addressing journalists after a brief tour of installed composting and recycling plant in Accra, Mrs. Dappah noted that recycling waste is the only sustainable way of managing waste.
The plant which is built on a robust technology for Africa in collaboration with a European technology partner, Komptech Austriais, is located at the Accra Waste Recovery Park, an industrial hub operated by Zoomlion Ghana Limited, a leading waste management company owned by the Jospong Group of Companies.
The facility has a high material recovery rate of up to 90% of mixed waste and with the capacity to process 200 metric tones of waste a day.
The Sanitation Minister encouraged players in the sanitation sector pledging government support for them to thrive.
The Plant Manager, Mr. Emmanuel Oteng the plant will provide direct and indirect employment for over 1,000 youth who are currently not engaged in any job.
Mr. Oteng also hinted of plans to install similar plants across all the 16 regions.
