Some youth of the South Tongu district of the Volta region have asked the President not to re-appoint the current District Chef Executive, Daniel Ameloku.
In an interview with Nii Akrofi Smart Abbey on the Midday Brief on Multi TV, leader of the youth group, Wisdom Dafeamepkor, said there has been no “meaningful development of the area” during his tenure of office.
He added that the DCE was not physically fit to be in office, suggesting that the President appoints a young talented energetic person to administer the affairs of the district.
He also said, if the president re-nominates the incumbent DCE, the youth of the district would “advice themselves”.
Daniel Ameloku, in his reaction, said he had no knowledge of the concerns being raised, and that he had been asked by the youth of the district to run for a second term in office
He said he had helped to provide portable drinking water to 54 communities within his 4-year tenure as District Chief Executive and had also provided electricity to 211 communities in the district.
The DCE denied knowing the leader of the youth group, adding that the fellow was not even in his district.
He said the district was fast developing, and that he was happy with the work he had done in the district.
