Residents of Sikaa in Nkoranza North District of Brong-Ahafo Region have established an education endowment fund to help brilliant pupils and students in the area. Nana Ameyaw Yeboah II, Chief of the area, announced this when he addressed a durbar to climax the celebration of the Munufie Yam Festival which also coincided with the first anniversary of his enstoolment as the chief of the area. He re-echoed that the only legacy that parents could bequeath their children was education, stressing the importance for them to invest much more of their resources in the education of their children and wards to make them responsible citizens in the future. Nana Ameyaw Yeboah II, expressed concern about the inability of the chunk of the youth in the area to pursue higher education as a result of poverty,saying that the fund would go a long way in addressing the problem in the various communities. He urged the people to promote unity and cooperation among themselves to enable them to jointly initiate and execute development projects. Nana Owusuaa Ayiwa, Queen Mother, deplored the negative practices of some parents who spent much of their resources on frivolous things and merry making to the detriment of their children’s education. She advised the youth to take their education seriously and to concentrate on their books and admonished them to shun unhealthy practices that could ruin their lives. Mr Joseph Kofi Boahen, Assemblyman of the area, urged the people to bury their political differences and to forge ahead and approach development programmes with unity.
