Ghana's Minister of Youth and Sports is optimistic about the Black Stars' chances of reaching the 2014 FIFA World Cup finals in Brazil.
Elvis Afriyie Ankrah, speaking at the opening of the Ghana Football Association's Ordinary Congress in Prampram on Wednesday reiterated government’s readiness to support the GFA as they prepare for the crucial second round World Cup qualifier against Zambia next month.
The minister was hopeful that the national team will edge Zambia to the final round qualifying place and go on to make it a third consecutive appearance at the World Cup.
"The Black Stars currently lead the Group (D) and therefore cannot relinquish their one-point lead on a silver platter," the Minister said.
"Some are saying we just need a point to qualify. Well, every qualification is qualification but government will fulfill its end of the bargain to ensure we win this game and the ones beyond".
"We are going to Brazil and not even Zambia can stop us."
The Black Stars lead the standing in Group D and are one point better than Zambia ahead of their last fixture at the Baba Yara Stadium on September 6.
