The South Municipal Assembly has held a public forum to discuss its planned multimillion cedis Flower City and Public Recreational Park project which will be sited around the Densu basin at Danchira in the Municipality.
The site, which falls under theĀ Densu Green Belt that was created to protect the water body, has been taken over by encroachers and sand winners whose activities have destroyed large potion of the vegetation within the enclave.
After several failed attempts to weed out these encroachers, the Ga South Municipal Assembly and chiefs of Danchira decided to turn the land into a useful economic venture which can create jobs for the inhabitants.
The announcement has been greeted with euphoria by residents and chiefs of Danchira
The forum, which was attended by chiefs, land administrators, members of the civil society organizations and government officials was used to discussed possible ways of removing potential bottlenecks to pave way for the smooth commencement of the project.
The projects when completed will create both permanent and casual jobs for the people in the surrounding communities.

The MCE disclosed that the Assembly saw those measures were no longer sustainable in the protection of the water body and as a result, the General Assembly passed a resolution for rezoning of the enclave to establish the project.
This action, the assembly believed was the best alternative to safeguarding the quality of water that is supplied into homes of people in the western part of Accra.
āWe have extensively discussed the issue with the Chiefs and of the area and have their blessings to go ahead with the project said the MCE,ā Mr Stephen added.
