Have you ever walked into a police station charge office fully air-conditioned with a lobby comparable to a standard living room? Well there is one of such in Accra.
The Dansoman District Police station’s improved conditions and service has not only caught the eye of residents in Dansoman but has been awarded as one of Africa’s best police stations.
Joy FM’s Francis Abban went to the station to verify this feat chalked by the Police.
The image that often comes up in people’s mind when they visualize police stations in Ghana is one of stench and dirty corridors. And that could not be far from the truth.
But one police station in Accra which has defied this depiction is the Dansoman District Police Station. It emerged tops among over three hundred police stations in Africa as the best in physical conditions, transparency and accountability as well as its relations with the community they serve.
District Commander of the Dansoman Police, DSP Susan Adjei is all smiles as she describes how she received the news of their recognition.
She told Joy News, at the back of her mind, she was only undertaking what she described as a normal renovation only for her to receive a surprise call congratulating her for chalking that feat.
Residents of Dansoman who spoke to Francis Abban suggest the Police have improved in their service to the community. Even though they lauded the service for good work done, they still maintain there is room for improvement.
Evidently, the Dansoman District Police has shown that it is possible to have a police station that truly works even though there is a never ending expectation to do more.
