A policy analyst of the Peoples' National Convention (PNC), Atik Mohammed is urging Ghanaians to positively defy the “insensitive” Mahama-led administration.
He believes positive defiance, one of the principle of the June 4 Revolution staged by the founder of the governing National Democratic Congress (NDC), Jerry John Rawlings is the only language government will understand.
Atik Mohammed was speaking on Asempa FM’s Ekosii Sen programme Friday.
He explained Positive defiance as when one becomes bold and stands up against bad policies of leaders without malice and a recommended it should be employed by Ghanaians to demand accountability from the ruling party.
He said the Mahama-led administration has for the past five years crippled the country’s economy “making life unbearable for Ghanaians”.
The PNC disclosed that a group called the Mass Action Committee of which he is part will on October 16, 2013 stage a massive demonstration on against what it describes as the hardship, corruption and the massive unemployment which has engulfed the nation.
According to him, the supposed 'Better Ghana Agenda' has metamorphosed to corruption with government officials creating, looting and sharing state resources to the detriment of the vulnerable in society.
Atik Mohammed contended that the Mahama-led government seize every excuse to increase burdens of Ghanaians because they lack “innovative ideas to solve our problems.
Citing the recent increase in petroleum products and utility tariff to buttress his point, he observed that “the only economic management strategy of government is to increase taxes, they lack ideas”.
Atik Mohammed said the Mass Action Committee will put enormous pressure on government until it comes out with practical measures to salvage the economy.
