Police have arrested 2 people as scores of residents demonstrate against the Service for killing a 21 year old man they believed was a thief.
Angry residents marched to the Zongo Police station demanding for the body of the deceased for burial.
Police fired warning shots and tear gas to disperse the unplanned demonstration. They have arrested two in the process.
Information reaching Joy News indicates that police in the Ashanti Regional capital Kumasi have shot and killed a 21 year old man identified only as Rashid at Sawaba, a suburb of Kumasi.
The incident which happened about 5:30pm on Tuesday is said to have created tension in the area.
Luv FM’s Erastus Asare Donkor was told by an eyewitness, when he visited the scene, that the deceased was being pursued by the police but refused to stop when ordered to do so.
He said the police shot and killed the young man for refusing to stop.
It is not clear why he was being pursued.
