The Managing Editor of the New Crusading Guide newspaper Abdul Malik Kweku Baako is applauding the decision of the NPP National Executive Council (NEC) to drop a contentious proposal for early congress.
He says the decision is “a victory for commonsense”.
For weeks the opposition New Patriotic Party (NPP) has been buffeted by internal wrangling over a new proposal to elect a flagbearer first before electing national, regional, constituency and grassroot officers.
This is against the traditional trend practiced for years by the country’s biggest opposition party.
Protest and dissenting voices within the party informed the decision of the party’s National Executive Council meeting which has had two meetings to consider the proposal.
NEC threw out the proposal at its last meeting Thursday. The managing editor has been opposed to the proposal describing it as “needless” and appearing “contrived”.
Speaking on Metro TV, Kweku Baako hailed the decision calling it a victory for commonsense.
