Residents in Techiman, especially members of the ruling National Democratic Congress (NDC) supporters, have condemned delays by the President to appoint a District Chief Executive (DCE) for the area.
According to the Techiman residents, the district has been without a DCE and a Presiding Officer for time now and it is resulting in a lack of development in the area.
They say the Member of Parliament (MP) for the area, Mr Adjei Mensah, has also done much to develop the district even as there is no DCE at post.
The residents say if the situation continues they will register their displeasure unequivocally during the 2016 general elections.
Some residents also say they are planning to march through the streets of the Techiman to send a strong message especially to the President.
Alhaji Ahmed Abubakar, Tekyiman South NDC Branch Chairman, said party members in the area are highly disappointed in the President because the district has received little or no attention in terms of concrete development since it came to power.
He called on President John Mahama to hasten efforts to appoint a DCE for the district to make way for progress in the area.
Alhaji Abubakar said the situation in the district is very regrettable considering that people of Tekyiman South campaigned vigorously for the NDC to win the elections in 2012.
“Look the national cake must be shared so that every District can benefit. But as things stand now, our district is lagging behind when it comes to development", he said.
He noted that for the President to pursue the Better Ghana Agenda, he must consider engaging all districts in his development agenda, adding that Tekyiman South should not be left out.
