The first female Speaker of the United States' House of Representatives, Nancy Pelosi, has praised Ghana for upholding democracy and the rule of law.
Nancy Pelosi, who is leading a group of Democrats is the guest of the Ghanaian Parliament, charged Ghana to lead the way in deepening democracy on the continent.
She also lauded Ghana for its role in peacekeeping activities around the world.
“We compliment you on the strength of Ghana being the exporter of security and peacekeepers from this continent...on our way here we met with the military and they complimented Ghana on its role in global security,” she said.
The US Speaker sang the political and cultural virtues of Ghana.
“We salute Ghana and we thank you for sending your distinguished Ambassador to Washington DC,” she said.

The US Speaker is due to address Parliament on Wednesday but ahead of her speech, she held a closed-door session with President Akufo-Addo at the Jubilee House Tuesday.
On his part, the President said his government will continue to respect the human rights of Ghanaians.
There is a dinner held in Speaker Pelosi’s honour hours after her arrival on Sunday at the Jubilee Lounge of Parliament, where she will respond to a toast.
