Deputy General Secretary of the governing National Democratic Congress (NDC), Kofi Adams says President John Mahama has demonstrated that he is an incorruptible leader.
According to him, the president’s desire to prosecute corrupt officials including those in government underscores his [Mahama’s] commitment to fighting corruption in the country.
Kofi Adams was commenting on President Mahama’s directive to Economic and Organized Crimes Office (EOCO), the Attorney-General’s department and the police Criminal Investigations Department (CID) to investigate persons indicted in the infamous Ghana Youth Employment and Entrepreneurial Development Authority (GYEEDA) report.
President Mahama has promised appropriate action will be taken against persons found culpable after the investigations. President Mahama has proven the skeptic wrong, Kofi Adams asserted.
He noted that the doubting Thomases especially members of the opposition New Patriotic Party (NPP) who hitherto doubted that any action will be taken on the GYEEDA issue have been put to shame.
Kofi Adams intimated that “unlike a certain regime where we were told corruption is as old as Adam”, the Mahama-led administration has demonstrated its resolve to expose any government official who will engage in corrupt practices.
“I will congratulate and commend the president to carry on his fight on corruption. I am convinced those found culpable will be prosecuted”.
The NDC Deputy General Secretary said the “wheels of justice grind slowly” hence Ghanaians must trust government and the security agencies to do a diligent job.
Kofi Adams urged the security agencies in charge of the investigation to build a proper docket for the Attorney General for prosecution.
On the contrary, a member of the NPP, John Boadu disagreed vehemently with Kofi Adams’ assertions.
He stated that Ghanaians reserve the right to demand accountability from government if their taxes are being mismanaged.
The NPP man maintained that GYEEDA was just an avenue for government officials to loot and share state resources with their cronies.
John Boadu said that nothing better will come out from the investigations by EOCO and CID.
