The Central Region Secretary of the New Patriotic Party is ridiculing the call on president John Mahama to dismiss his National Security Advisor for unsavoury comments about workers.
Kwamena Duncan says the NDC government is a “club of incompetent people” and that it was asking too much to expect the president to sack his incompetent advisor.
His criticism is in reaction to comments made by the National Security Advisor Brigadier General Nunoo-Mensah during the commissioning of a classroom block for Oreilly Secondary School.
The Advisor, who was obviously angry with the spate of strikes and agitations in the labour front charged workers to get their passports and leave if they could not sacrifice a little for the country.
In defence of his initial comment, Nunoo-Mensah further alleged that the current labour agitations in the country were politically motivated.
His comments have left workers angry with the University Teachers Association of Ghana contemplating legal action against him.
Some political activists, especially members of the opposition New Patriotic Party have led the crusade in demanding the dismissal of Brig. Gen. Nunoo-Mensah, a call the security advisor has dismissed.
Speaking on Peace FM’s Kokrooko, Wednesday, Kwamena Duncan said the president was incapable of dismissing his advisor because he is not any better as far as competence was concerned.
He said Nunoo-Mensah had the permission of the president to make the controversial comments and even when he the president had the opportunity to speak at the same programme he also accused workers of complaining too much.
How then can you ask the president to dismiss his advisor? He questioned.
The Greater Accra Region chairman of the NDC Ade Coker who was also on the show appealed for cool heads to prevail.
He said Nunoo Mensah will neither be the firstn or the last to make such comments but added the country must move on.
