Fabulous Kumasi Asante Kotoko walloped Accra Great Olympics 5-0, in their one-touch mid-week premier league match played at the refurbished Baba Yara Sports Stadium in Kumasi on Wednesday.
Eric Bekoe, the new-found striker of Kotoko hit a hat-trick to send his tally in the goal king race to seven.
Eric scored his first in the fifth minute, with Daniel Nii Adjei making it two for Kotoko in the 15th minute.
Eric's man-of-the-match display culminated in his scoring the third and fourth goals for his side in the 24th and 45th minute respectively to end the half.
After recess Olympic brought in Winfred Dormon for Edward Sasu while Asante Kokoto also substituted injured Nii Adjei in the 49th minute with Stephen Oduro.
Kotoko who dominated Olympics increased the tally to five in the 74th minute through Francis Akwafo, who connected home a brilliant pass from Stephen Oduro.
Barely two minutes after his goal, Akwafo nearly hit the target again in the 76th minute, but his shot hit the cross bar and bounced into play.
With their pride at stake, Olympics made a second substitution by bringing in Geshun Coffie in the 77th minute for Osei Morrison, but their efforts to redeem a goal proved futile as the defence of Kotoko stood gallantly.
Kotoko introduced Prince Amponsah in the 83rd minute for Eric Bekoe.
In the 85th minute, an Olympic's attacker was brought down in the 18 yard box and the referee did not hesitate to award a penalty kick, however Sulemana Iddrisu's kick was saved by goalkeeper Sulemana Abdulai in goal for Kotoko to keep a clean sheet in all the five matches they have played so far.
