The Awutu-Effutu-Senya District Assembly has decided to set aside March 01 for voluntary HIV/AIDS test at the Winneba Government Hospital for all its members.
The District Chief Executive (DCE), Solomon Kwashie Abbam-Quaye who disclosed this to media men after an emergency meeting on Tuesday explained that the move was to enable members of the assembly to step up their campaign against the spread of the virus in their electoral areas.
The meeting was called to discuss the sessional address of the DCE given at the assembly’s last sitting in December 2006 and approved the ¢500 million budget for the first quarter of the year.
Mr Alex Afenyo-Markin, the Presiding Member, advised members of the house to always think of what they could do to improve the socio-economic status of people in their electoral areas rather than trying to push issues that would bring disunity among them.
He appealed to the assembly members to promote the District Mutual Health Insurance Scheme to ensure speedy attainment of the objectives of the scheme.
Mr Abbam-Quaye said any community that failed to utilize building materials allocated it for the construction of any development project would lose the allocation.
