Local shoe manufacturer, Horseman Shoes, won two awards at the 2nd Association of Ghana Industries (AGI) Ghana Industry Awards.
The company took the Leather Company of the Year 2013 and the Young Enterprise Company of the Year 2013 awards.
The awards ceremony climaxed the industrial week celebration of the AGI.
The Chairperson of the AGI awards, Mrs Awurabena Okrah, said “The AGI Ghana Industry Awards is to reward and honour companies that have achieved outstanding successes in various areas of industry and innovation in the year.”
She said the awards were also to motivate and encourage the companies to continue to brave the odds and contribute their quota to the growth of the economy.
The President of the AGI, Nana Owusu Afari, said the association owed it a duty to recognize businesses which had exhibited excellence through their products and services.
He said even though the business environment was harsh and turbulent, excellence was the distinguishing factor, determining which businesses fail and which would weather the storm and succeed.
Nana Owusu Afari, therefore urged businesses in the country “to adopt the internationally-benchmarked business excellence framework as a critical tool” in their management.
Guinness Ghana Ltd., Coconut Groove Hotel, Tropical Cables and Conductors Ltd., as well as Fan Milk Ghana Ltd., also picked awards.
The Chief Executive of Horseman Shoes, Tonye Senaya, said he was humbled by the recognition the company received from the AGI.
