Former President John Dramani Mahama has urged the Electoral Commission to resolve the anomalies and challenges identified in the ongoing exhibition of the voters' register.
The National Democratic Congress (NDC) leader observed that the complaints about the use of the 2016 and 2019 registers was creating confusion in many areas.
Speaking to journalists Monday in Bole in the Savannah Region after checking his name in the register at the District Assembly Polling Station, he noted that, “in some places, there are complaints that new people who registered are identified only by their faces because their biometric features have not been featured.”
“They need to sit up and make sure that…we have a register that is credible and capable of being used in any election,” he stated.
The former President also urged the Electoral Commission to see the political parties, particularly the NDC, as partners in the electoral process rather than antagonists.

“The posture of the EC in the recent past has been to look at us as if we are antagonists, we are not antagonists; we are partners. The political parties are the main stakeholders in the EC’s work in elections and so the political parties have an interest in making sure that elections are held in high integrity.
“And so we will continue to criticise if we see that things are not done the way they should and I think that the EC should take it in good fate.
“What every party wants is that at the end of an electoral exercise it wants to have the full confidence that there was a level playing field and it was treated equally,” John Mahama added.
