Ghana goalkeeper Razak Brimah has joined Spanish second division side Córdoba from troubled rivals Guadalajara on a free transfer, GHANAsoccernet.com can exclusively reveal.
The 26-year-old, who was Guadalajara’s first choice goalkeeper, sealed the deal on Tuesday night after four hours on negotiations.
He signed a contract that will leave him at Cordoba until June 2015, Ghana’s leading football news outfit can reveal.
Brimah moves on a free transfer after Spanish tax authorities filed for Guadalajara to be relegated from the second tier in Spain because the club has gone bankrupt.
The giant goalkeeper will be unveiled by Cordoba this afternoon (Wednesday) at a press conference to officially announce his capture.
This will end weeks of uncertainty for the Ghanaian who could not play for his club because of the problems Guadalajara bosses had with the authorities.
Brimah’s swift move to secure a club will massively boost his chances of making Ghana’s 2014 World Cup squad having been part of the squad for the recent matches against Zambia and Japan.
His decision to move will give him the required playing time to help him fight for position among the three goalkeepers Ghana are to take to the 2014 World Cup in Brazil.
Brimah played 25 games in the past Second Division championship A.
He played for Chaves, Uniao Madeira, Sports Ejido, Real Betis “B” before joining Guadalajara.
