The National Sports Authority Medical Directorate and National Ambulance Service will organize a Sports/Emergency medicine seminar for all medics and paramedics attached to all football clubs and sporting associations.
The seminar which will take place at the Media Centre of the Accra Sports Stadium on Friday, January 24, 2014, 9:00am-2:00 pm is to address nagging issues affecting the health of footballers and other sportsmen, especially on the field of play.
Each club and association is expected to nominate at least two Medical Persons (Masseurs, Physiotherapists, Medical Doctor) to attend the seminar.
A statement issued from the health directorate of the National Sports Authority and signed by the assistant administrative Rafiq Arthur, said an amount of 50 cedis will charged each participant, the amount which will cover lunch and course materials.
Among the topics to be discussed include, Cardiopulmonary resuscitation and first aid in sports, sudden collapse and sudden cardiac death; African statistics, on-pitch and immediate management of the injured player.
The seminar is opened to medics and paramedics attached to various sporting associations including security agencies, all physicians, physiotherapists and masseurs attached to national teams, premier clubs, divisions 1 & 2 and soccer academies as well as all first responders at the various stadia and soccer pitches dotted all over the country.
