A parliamentary hopeful on the ticket of the New Patriotic Party (NPP) in the Daffiama-Bussie-Issa constituency has delivered on his promise to resource the party despite his defeat at the polls.
Dr Elias Kavina Sory's dream to represent the people in the Upper West Region constituency in Parliament crashed after suffering a humiliating defeat to District Chief Executive, Nadi Imoro Sanda.
The victor polled 130 votes to beat Dr Sory, who polled 38 votes.
However, Dr Sory, a former Director-General of the Ghana Health Service (GHS), did not renege on a declaration he made in the run-up to the weekend’s primaries to support the NPP to effectively campaign and win the 2020 elections.
He has donated five motorbikes valued at GHS18,000 to the Upper West Regional Chairman of the NPP, S.B Kangbere, to be handed over to the Daffiama-Bussie-Issa constituency and the Parliamentary candidate-elect.

“I am very happy to have been a good ambassador of the campaign [to win the Presidency for the NPP in 2020] and I still want to show I am prepared to support our candidate to win the Daffiama-Bussie-Issa seat in 2020,” he stated at a short ceremony to present the motorcycles to the party.
Mr S.B Kangbere commended the gesture of Dr Sory which he described as “very rare” especially coming from someone who lost an election.
''I am very happy that we have elected a humble parliamentary candidate who before this election, I have always had a soft spot for,” he said.

The parliamentary candidate-elect, Nadi Imoro Sanda was overwhelmed by the benevolence of Dr Sory and pledged to capture the seat which has been held by the opposition National Democratic Congress (NDC), since 1992.
Mr Sanda said the tremendous support he is getting from the defeated aspirants and the polling station and constituency executives will see him win the seat during the parliamentary polls next year.
