The National Petroleum Authority says it is yet to completely deal with issues of supply and distribution as there still remains pockets of fuel shortage in Accra.
The problem which has been lurking for about two weeks now is being blamed on the late arrival of vessels carrying the refined product.
Joy Business' checks over the weekend revealed some filling stations had run out of stock while others had little in their reserves.
At the Goil Filling Station at the Nima Roundabout, there was a post which read "No Petrol" and at Total Filling Station on the Ringroad, fuel station attendants had retired to their seats.
One attendant said, "We ran out of fuel this morning, so when our customers come we turn them away. I really can't tell what the problem is..."
At the storage depots, tankers continue to queue to take delivery. According to Chairman of the Tanker Drivers Union, Eric Amoako Teye, some drivers have had to queue for days.
However, in an interview with Joy Business, Public Relations Officer of the NPA, Yaro Kasambata said his outfit was making frantic efforts to ensure stable supply of fuel.
"When you have the kind of problem we had on our hands during the Christmas holidays, the supply and distribution could protract over a period," he explained.
Mr. Kasambata is however certain depots will be stocked up by the end of the week.
