Government could soon meet some domestic airline operators over the implementation of the new Value Added Tax, Joy Business has learnt.
The scope of the new VAT rate has been expanded to now include domestic air travel.
This has triggered concerns among some operators because it could result in higher ticket prices which could also adversely affect patronage of domestic air services.
The operators have consequently petitioned the Transport Ministry over the matter and are likely to soon meet over the issue.
Domestic airlines currently charge a tax of 20 cedis on ticket prices, comprising a 5 cedis airport tax and 15cedis fuel surcharge.
