Participants at the JoyBusiness Oil and Gas Town Hall Meeting on Monday called for a review of the laws governing Ghana’s petroleum upstream sector.
The Town Hall Meeting organised by JoyBusiness and the Media Foundation for West Africa was on the theme: “10 years of commercial oil production in Ghana. Challenges and prospects for the future.”
The event which was attended by experts from the country’s oil and gas industry was used to discuss possible ways of removing impediment which has the potential of ruling out the benefits Ghanaians may receive from the industry.
Some of the issues discussed include the local content and policies as well as capacity building.
Some of the participants included the Deputy Minister of Energy Dr Mohammed Amin Adam, Former Finance Minister Seth Terkpe, Head of Programmes at the Institute of Fiscal Studies Nicholas Ekow De-Heer, Chairman of Parliamentary Select Committee on Energy Mutawakilu Adam, Executive Director of ACEP Ben Boakye, Chairman of Public Interest and Accountability Committee (PIAC) Dr Steve Manteaw, CEO Cosmos Energy George Owusu , Kwame Jantuah Energy Consultant, Sekhar Sathyamoorthy, Tullow Ghana among others.
