Activist, Gloria Boatemaa Andoh has toured some schools in Utah in the United States as a facilitator for suicide prevention instructors training.
The ‘Hope Squad Advisor Certification on Suicide Prevention and QPR Suicide Prevention Gatekeeper Instructors Training’ was given to schools in Utah with hope squads.
These squads serve as the eyes and ears of some schools in the US. They are comprised of students who are trained to watch for at-risk students–provide friendship, identify warning signs, and seek help from adults.
These pieces of training were given to the Hope Squads to equip them with the know-how and what to do when faced with at-risk or suicidal students.
Madam Andoh, who is also the founder of Weinglo Family International, suicide prevention organisation, toured some of the schools to learn how helpful the lesson had been for children and parents of these students.
Some of the schools she visited included Springville High, Pleasant Grove Jr High, Orem Elementary and Scenic View Academy.
Madam Andoh was invited by the Executive Director for HOPE4UTAH another organisation specialised in suicide prevention.
She was also invited by the Governor’s wife the First Lady of the State, Jeanette Herbert along with Dr Greg Hudnall to participate in her Foundation Launch “ Uplift Families”.
