Okyenhene, Osagyefo Amoatia Ofori Panin II, has launched the Asona Family Educational Foundation and Scholarship to assist members of the Asona clan to get a good tertiary education.
At a durbar of all the Asona Chiefs in Ghana at Kyebi, Osagyefo Amoatia Ofori Panin II said the fund seeks to deal with challenges faced by needy but brilliant students in their quest to get tertiary education after secondary education.
He said the Asona Family Educational Foundation and Scholarship will help to put thousands of Asona people in tertiary school.
The durbar of Asona chiefs was the first of its kind.
Prominent Asona chiefs in attendance include Offinsomanhene Nana Wiafe Akenteng, Ejisumanhene Oguakro Afrane Okese, Beposomanhene Nana Boama Kwabi, Sandemamanhene Naba Azaksuik Azantilow, Mansonkwantamanhene Nana Bi Kusi Appiah and Kokofumanhene Okogyeasuo Barima Offei Akwasi.
Also in attendance were Kwahu Aduamoamanhene Ohiatutu Brimpong, Okuapemhemaa Nana Afua Oboo ll, Amanokromhene Nana Osim Kwatia ll and other Asona family members from Kpando, Mankesim and Nkusukum.
The Asona Family Union Durbar and launch of the Asona Family Educational Foundation and Scholarship was part of initiatives and activities to celebrate the 20th anniversary of Okyenhene’s enstoolment.
Okyenhene Osagyefo Amoatia Ofori Panin II called on Ghanaians to avoid acts of indiscipline and disrespect for the elderly and chiefs.
He said the moral decay of some Ghanaian youths and politicians has become a source of major concern.
According to him, attacks on the elderly people and sometimes chiefs in the country, must not be encouraged.
Osagyefo Amoatia Ofori Panin II called on the youth to show respect to people in authority.
He also advised the youth to take to adopt birth control measures to enable them to take good care of their children.
