Head coach of Asante Kotoko Masud Didi Dramani has expressed delight at his team’s 2-1 win over Barack Young Controllers of Liberia despite concerns of not scoring more goals ahead of the second leg.
The Porcupine Warriors needed two goals from the spot to overcome BYC in the preliminary round stage of the competition at the Baba Yara stadium on Sunday.
Defender Kwabena Adusei scored both goals for Kotoko with the Liberians pulling one back before the break.
After missing many opportunities, to score coach Masud Dramani believes they did what matters in football by winning though he would have fancy more goals.
“I’m happy we won and that is the most important thing but if you are talking about the margin then we could have done better because we anticipated that we wanted to dominate play and score more goals unfortunately that didn’t happen due to poor decision upfront by my players,” said coach Dramani after the game
“We knew how they were going to play against us which is make use of the counter but we managed all that and were able to hold them but I must admit they played very well.
“We were very sure of dominating play but the poor decision didn’t help but I’m happy at least we won.
“At least we have another chance to make amends in the second leg and I believe it will go well.”
Young Boys Controllers will host Asante Kotoko in Liberia on 16th February 2014 for the second leg.
