The Ho Teaching Hospital (HTH) has received a water filtration plant to help curb the hospital’s long-lasting acute water shortages.

According to Dr John Tampore, the Chief Executive Officer of HTH, they have spent heavily on temporary water provision to meet daily demands.

The water plant was donated by Life For Relief and Development, a non-governmental organisation (NGO), following an appeal and will ensure constant availability of potable water which is important to quality health care delivery.

The 24-hour water plant will cater to the demands of HTH which serves as a major referral medical centre for surrounding communities, the Volta and Oti regions and patients coming from neighbouring country, Togo.

During the inauguration of the water facility, Dr Tampore said, “this obviously is a dream come true for the hospital to benefit from the generosity of Life For Relief and Development who also provided us with other hospital equipment which will go a long way to solve the perennial water problems.”

Regional Director for Ghana and Senegal of Life For Relief and Development, Shaik Umar Farouk at the inauguration, expressed his pleasure in being able to help the hospital.

As a result of the installation of a water plant at the Ho Teaching Hospital, the medical centre will be expected to serve as a research facility for the prevention and treatment of diseases.
