Yaa Ampofowaah, a 32-year-old farmer, who said she could not stand the insults of her mother, has butchered her to death at Subinsu near Kyempo in the Asante Akim South District.
The deceased, 65-year-old Alice Asantewaah reportedly told the daughter in the midst of hot verbal exchanges between them, to take her “madness” away, Police detective Inspector A.B. Ansah of the Obogu Police, told the Ghana News Agency.
He said Ampofowaah, mother of four, became infuriated and inflicted cutlass wounds on the mother’s body, killing her instantly.
The incident occurred on January 24 at about 2000 hours when most members of the community were glued to their television sets watching the on-going Ghana 2008 tournament, hence nobody heard the screams of the deceased early enough to rescue her.
Inspector Ansah said Ampofowaah would be arraigned on Monday.
