The Presiding Member of Ajumako-Enyan-Essiam District Assembly, Mr Albert A. Quainoo, has urged parents to use the money, energy and time spent on unnecessary things to educate their children.
He said it is through education that would enable children to grow up to become useful future citizens.
Mr Quainoo said this at the first open day celebration of the Bethel Hill District Assembly School at Ajumako Besease.
He said it is very sad that while some parents claimed they are unable to cater for all their children’s school needs, they are able to get money to purchase expensive funeral clothing and other valuables.
He advised the pupils to stop playing truant at the expense of their education and also avoid the company of bad friends.
The headmaster of the school, Mr Daniel K. Amoh said the school’s performance in the recent Basic Education Certificate Examination was very good.
He appealed to the district Assembly and the Ghana Education Service to provide them a building to house the Kindergarten section of the school.
Mr Peter Alen Nyarko, a member of the Town Development Implementation Committee, who chaired the function, commended the founder of the school, Madam Jane Inkoom for her foresight to promote education in the area.
The school was established by Madam Inkoom before she later handed it over to the Ghana Education Service (GES)
