The family of the 24-year-old lady, who died last Sunday after she was allegedly neglected by health workers at the Korle-Bu polyclinic, have indicated their readiness to pursue legal redress on the issue if that is the final way to go.
According to them, the three months pregnant Abigail Boateng would have survived, if she was attended to by the doctor and nurse on duty at the time.
Speaking to Joy News, Friday, a sister to the deceased, Jessica Boateng revealed that autopsy reports has linked her sister's death to ectopic pregnancy but was insistent that the family will go all out to request for justice.
"We want the council to investigate into it to see what really happened because if the doctor attended to us, it wouldn't happen this way...
"We don't know about the procedure so supposing we submit it [petition] to them [Medical and Dental Council] and that [legal redress] is the way to go, we are ready", she asserted.
Jessica Boateng further noted that the family's petition on the issue will soon be presented to the Medical and Dental Council after some few enquiries were done.
The family would be asking the council to conduct investigations into the case to see what went wrong.
Meanwhile, the head of the Polyclinic Dr. David Nortey tells Joy News that he has received responses from a letter he wrote to the medical staff who were on duty at the time the incident occurred.
He says the affected staff will be summoned before a decision would be taken on their case.
