The General Overseer of the International Central Gospel Church (ICGC), Dr Mensa Otabil, says Christians must not turn away mini-skirted ladies from the Church.
In his Sunday March 9, 2014 sermon monitored by XYZ News, Dr Otabil said Christians must not be judgmental of such people but rather welcome them into the Church and allow the Holy Spirit to work on them.
“There are people who come to Church in all kinds of state. And there are some Christians who are very intolerant. They see some woman who comes to Church - maybe with a short skirt - and they [grumble]: ‘The judgment of God, the fire will burn you.’
“Let them come with their short skirts”, Dr Otabil urged the Church, “and let the Holy Spirit begin to work on them”.
He added: “And after the Holy Spirit has worked on you for a long time, you add one more inch to your skirt and after a few more time, you add a few more inches and after a long time, you add another inch”.
According to Pastor Otabil, “it is not about how you dress. It is about Jesus in you. And when you become a disciple of Christ, your dressing will change. I guarantee you that your dressing will change”.
“So instead of being cruel, be kind and allow people to grow spiritually, then the physical manifestations will show,” Dr Otabil admonished his congregation.
Asserting that true love for people of all kind was the truest form of evangelism, Dr Otabil said: “evangelising is not just crusades, adding that: “Crusades most times are not even effective. True love is the real evangelism. And that’s why in the Church we are committed to making a difference in people’s lives”.
According to him, “we receive people as they are when they come to our church and we trust God to work on them”, adding that: “We don’t have to become a critical [and] very very unfriendly Church”.
