Mamelodi Sundowns coach Pitso Mosimane has hailed the vital goal-line clearance by Ghana defender Rashid Sumaila pin their 1-0 win over Moroka Swallows on Saturday.
The Black Stars defender proved his mettle once more again when he came on as a second half substitute to help the Brazilians in their match towards the PSL title.
The ex Asante Kotoko loanee has been reliable whenever called upon and did not disappoint after replacing Alje Schut at the start of the second half.
Pitso Masomene men took the lead through forward Teko Modiso early on in the game and had to dig deep to maintain the lead as Swallows threw everything at them in a bid to get something out of the game.
Rashid Sumaila’s last ditch clearance from a corner kick after goalkeeper Kennedy Mweene had been already beaten earned him rave reviews from his coach who is beginning to feel the trophy in his hands.
“That was a close game and I felt Swallows gave their best maybe a point would not have been a bad result but if you win games like this then you begin to dream that this year could be yours,” Mosimane said after the game.
“You can clearly see that Rashid [Sumaila] clearance was as important as Teko’s goal and those are the moments which decides seasons.
“We can now feel it with two games to go our destinies are in our hands and we have to maintain our nerves.”
The win moves Pitso Mosimane’s men six points clear at the top of the table, with second placed Kaizer Chiefs having two games in hand.
