The greater Accra regional Police command has taken over investigation to unravel the circumstances that led to the death of a-53-year-old car dealer at the Madina Police cells.
Speaking to Joy News, Friday, the public relations officer of the Greater Accra Regional Police Command, DSP Freeman Tettey says the issue will be investigated.

So as a result of that the Regional Command had directed that it should be investigated", he indicated.
According to him, after the investigation, the outcome will be made public in due course.

"Efforts will also be made by the Accra Regional Command to get in touch with the family members. At least, there will be some discussions on the side, while investigations go on", the Greater Accra regional PRO asserted.
He points out that inputs of the deceased's family members will be solicited to determine the way forward at unraveling the circumstances surrounding the death of the car dealer, adding that "it will be too early to hold somebody responsible".
Joe Tuffour was arrested by the Madina Police on Good Friday for reneging on an agreement to buy a car for a female client, who has paid him money.
Information about the death of the man is sketchy but information reaching Joy News indicates that several appeals by inmates to the police, alerting them that Joe Tuffuor was dying, was totally ignored.
Joy News' Paa Kwesi Asare reported that family members of the deceased said it was only after he died that he was picked up and sent to the police hospital.
Information gathered by Joy News indicated that the victim was declared "clinically dead" on arrival at the police Hospital, where he was later rushed to.
A sister to the deceased told Joy News that his brother was not covered even in death after he was stripped half-naked while in custody, adding that his clothes were handed over to them [family members].
Meanwhile, the Madina District Police Commander, Superintendent Owusu Bempah has dismissed allegation that the suspect died in police custody.
