Ghana striker Asamoah Gyan powered a brace for Al Ain to help them cruise to a 3-1 victory over Al Sharjah in the Arabian Gulf League on Sunday evening.
The Black Stars captain put the champions in the lead for the first time in the game with a 73rd minute strike before nailing the game beyond their hosts at the Al-Sharjah Stadium (Al Sharjah.
Shahin Abdulrahman had scored under just two minutes to put Al Sharjah in the lead and well bossed the game until the 71st minute when Diaky Ibrahim escaped a couple of legs in the host defence to send a long half-volley past Mohamed Yousif for the leveller.
Gyan’s first goal which put Ain ahead was pure show of class and panache in front of goal. Omar Abdulrahman weighed in an intelligent cross from the left and Gyan overpowered his marker in a mid-air challenge to head the ball past Yousif who was stretched to his elastic limits.
The second goal was also the work of Omar Abdulrahman who released an intelligent pass for Gyan and he fervently bullied his marker before powerfully turning to smash the ball to the near-post for his 26th league goal of the season.
