Burkina Faso international has been linked to Zamalek, who need to bolster their line-up after a less than stellar season.

Zamalek have opened talks with former Petrojet attacking midfielder Mohamed Koffi for a potential summer switch, according to Al-Ahram's Arabic news website.

The Burkinabe international, who left Petrojet for Duhok in the winter break, will see out his contract with the Iraqi side by the end of the season as the Whites aim to secure his services on a free transfer.

Koffi, 27, has been one of Petrojet's key men since the petroleum side sealed top-flight promotion in the 2006/2007 league season.

Zamalek, who will be vying in the CAF Champions League group stage this summer, are looking to bolster their squad with new signings – much needed, considering the Cairo giants' have been anything but consistent this season.

With only one match to go, the 11-time-Egyptian champions are currently struggling to secure qualification for the final mini-league phase, as they need to overcome Group B leaders Ittihad El-Shorta in their final game to march through.
