Ex- Black Stars captain Charles Kwabena Akunnor has asked Ghanaians to embrace the upcoming Black Stars Farewell Match adding that it a very laudable idea.
The Farewell Match will be coming off this Friday, May 23rd at the Accra sports stadium is being put together by Primeval Media in collaboration with the Ghana FA, and this according to Akunnor deserves the needed support in order to see the light of day.
“When I heard it for the first time, I asked myself what is this all about, because I haven’t seen anything like this before and have not heard of any country doing a thing like that”, Akunnor mentioned.
“But after looking at the concept and the manner in which it will help both the players and the local fans, I decided to participate. It’s a very good initiative and I want all Ghanaians to embrace it and support the departure of the Black Stars as they leave for the World Cup.”
“My colleagues and I will tell you, we talk about this all the time because nothing of that sort was ever done for us during our time with the Stars and I think these bunch of Black Stars players are very blessed and there is no way they can fail.”
The 26-man squad will leave Ghana twenty four hours after the event ,to Holland for an interntional friendly .
