A security analyst at the Kofi Annan International Peace Keeping Centre, Dr. Emmanuel Ennin has advocated for the re-introduction of sniffer dogs to curb the drug menace in the country.
He said the dogs when introduced will not only compliment the activities of the police, but expose drug dealers who manage to bribe their way to safety.
Speaking on Citi FM’s morning show on Monday, Dr. Ennin commended the Central Regional Police for their interception of 380 parcels of cocaine and advised the police to intensify the spot checks to nip the situation in the bud.
While admiring the selfless gesture by the Police in turning down a $5000 bribe by the suspects, he was quick to add what the situation would have been if the suspects had upped their offer.
He also called on the Police hierarchy to implement without delay, the directive by the Interior Minister Dr. Addo Kufour for Identification numbers and names to be embossed on their uniforms.
He advised the police to routinely check all vehicles both classy and rickety in order not to be out smarted by the drug peddlers.
