Gary Joseph Pliner (Chub’s) age 73, of Janesville Wisconsin, passed away Friday May 30, 2014 at Mercy Hospital in Janesville.
Gary devoted much of his life to helping youth achieve their goals, through foster parenting troubled youth via amateur boxing. He was also one of the presidents in the early years of the International Boxing Organization (IBO).
He was born on December 14, 1940 in Fort Dodge Iowa, the son of the late Lester and Evelyn Pliner. Gary graduated from Fort Dodge High School, he served in the United States Army from 1962-1964 Gary worked and retired, from Hormel Foods 1966-1989. Gary is survived by his wife Patricia Pliner.
A Celebration of Gary’s Life will be held on Thursday June 5th 2014, from 5:00pm to 8:00pm at Schneider Apfel Schneider & Schneider Funeral Home and Crematory, 1800 East Racine St, Janesville, WI 53547, with Sharing of Memories beginning at 7:00 pm.
