The Ghana Rugby Football Union (GRFU) via its President, Mr. Herbert Mensah, has expressed its full support for the Ghana Black Stars in the 2014 FIFA World Cup.
In spite of the prevailing economic challenges, Mr. Mensah stressed it was time for unity as a nation in support of the Black Stars. He extended a special support to the GFA president Mr. Kawsi Nyantakyi and asked him to extend a hand of support to the Black Stars players and staff.
Mr. Mensah said, “In competitions of this nature results were invariably determined by preparation, the supporting cast, the love of the nation and focus and dedication of the players. Ghanaians are doing their part (ECG too I pray!) and we leave the rest to fate!”
According to Mr. Mensah, the Black Stars have in the past made Ghanaians proud to be Ghanaians, and indeed Africans proud to be Africans.
He prayed that the collective spirit of the nation would help focus the players at this most historic of moments.
The FIFA World Cup kicks off tonight with the host nation Brazil playing Croatia.
The Ghana Black Stars will play their first match on Monday 16 June at 9pm Ghana time against the USA at the Arena das Dunas.
