A survey conducted by the National Commission for Civic Education (NCCE) forecasts a slim first-round victory for the opposition National Democratic Congress (NDC) in the December election.The poll which sampled some 5327 respondents puts the NDC leading with 42.9 percent whilst the NPP trails next with 42.6 percent, a difference of 0.3 percent.The Convention People’s Party (CPP) and the People’s National Convention (PNC) respectively mustered 6.3 and 1.1 percent.The poll which was conducted in April 2008, also predicts a high voter turnout. Some 96.9 percent of voters would cast their ballot in December.Speaking to Joy News, the principal research officer at the NCCE, Elizabeth Jeffery Amoako, said the poll was intended to “solicit the opinions of voters as regards who they would vote for.”To ensure a high reliability and accuracy, respondents were sampled across the country from three imaginary divisions: northern, middle and coastal sectors.The results also sought to find out the issues that would shape voting trends on “Super Sunday”. Voters prioritised education, health and agriculture (in that order) in a list of 10 items.
