There is uneasy calm at the Korle Bu Teaching Hospital today after some staff there demonstrated against what they believe to be management's intimidation and victimisation of the President of the Senior Staff Association.
Leader of the Senior Staff Association Charles Ofei-Palm was queried to explain why he petitioned President Mahama about events at the hospital, without following laid down grievance procedures.
He was also to explain why he held a news conference without the approval of the hospital’s Public Relations Unit.
The dissatisfied association members say the query smacks of intimidation against their leader and demand the query be withdrawn.
Augustine Sowah, Vice President of the Korle-Bu Senior Staff Association in an interview with Joy News said their president did not act in his personal capacity but on behalf of the association.
Therefore management cannot single him out for disciplinary action, he stated.
The aggrieved members of the Association presented a petition to the Acting Chief Executive of the hospital, Rev Okpoti Botwe.
Management of the hospital has meanwhile, declined comment for now.
Acting Chief Executive Reverend Okpoti Botwe says the petition will be presented to the board for decision.
