Isaac Kwasi Mensah, 23, pleaded guilty to unlawful entry and stealing, and the Akim Swedru circuit court, presided over by Mr. Yaw Atta Sampong, sentenced him upon his plea.
Briefing the court, Inspector Fabian Sallah said the complainant is an elder of the Akim Eshiem Methodist Church and that, for sometime past there had been rampant theft of properties of the church.
Inspector Sallah said on April 30, 2014 at about 19:30 hours the elder visited the church premises and detected that a padlock to the door had been forcibly removed, and when he entered, he found that one amplifier and an extension board were stolen from the church.
According to the Inspector, the elder informed some of the church members and that on the following day, May 1, a witness in the case hinted the complainant that he had spotted the said items in the convict’s room, adding that the church members followed up to Mensa’s house, but he bolted away and he was later arrested.
