A teenage girl (name withheld), who was defiled and impregnated about a year ago, is lamenting over neglect by her family.
“I don’t hear from my family again and it makes me think a lot, it makes me cry,” she broke down in tears.
Joy News, last year, broke the story about the ordeal of the teenager but it appears nothing much has changed.
Speaking to Joy News’ Beatrice Adu, who visited her at a shelter in the Eastern region, she admitted coping with life through donations and support from the Ark Foundation, a Non-governmental Organisation (NGO).
She now has a year-old baby girl. The baby turned one just last Friday.
Before she was defiled, the teenager lived with her parents in the Central Region.
She was said to have been defiled and impregnated by a man purported to be a student of the University of Cape Coast.
ASP Christine Sofrenyo, in-charge of the Madina DOVVSU has indicated that her outfit has not been able to administer justice because there was no cooperation between both the victim and her family.
She said the police needed some support from the victim and her family in order to carry on with their investigation.
ASP Sofrenyo added that the police is therefore requesting for such information to help in their investigation.
The victim noted that despite the challenges she faced earlier on, she is now willing to help the police in their investigation.
Amidst her troubles, she has expressed interest to go back to school and so, the foundation is making the necessary arrangements for her to continue school in September this year.
