The latest report released by the Coalition of Domestic Election Observers (CODEO) cites the ruling New Patriotic Party of massive corruption in the run up to the December polls.
CODEO is a coalition that has been observing the political campaigns and related issues in the country ahead of the election.
Its fifth report since March said its observers had seen NPP executives bowling out large sums of money to supporters ahead of its rallies.
John Larbi, programmes manager at the Centre for Democratic Development (CDD) which coordinates the activities of CODEO said the party had been doing that ostensibly to garner support towards the December polls.
“They give undisclosed sums of money. You’ll not see it but people will come and tell you what happened,” he said.
Since the commencement of its primaries across the country, the NPP has been under fire for what observers describe as widespread violence.
Reports have also been rife that some constituency primaries nearly turned bloodbath when supporters of parliamentary aspirants clashed wielding sticks and machetes, all believed to have been influenced somewhat by power-drunk aspirants.
But with latest reports emerging, the situation has even been worse during party rallies.
Top party executives of the ruling party have been spotted giving undisclosed sums of money to supporters prior to rallies.
The CODEO report also cites public servants for the misuse and abuse of their office for political gains.
The coalition recommends that political parties strictly adhere to the political parties code regarding campaigning especially the provision on the posting of posters to avoid violence.
