The Avenor-Ave Constituency Executives of the NDC has refuted allegations that it was attempting to impose Mr Edward Doe-Adjaho, the incumbent MP on the constituency as its parliamentary candidate. A statement signed by Mr A.K. Wemegah, Constituency Chairman said; “The press conference by the so-called concerned citizens was rather a threat from party critics who are getting panicked of the achievements and growing popularity of the NDC and the prospects of a landslide victory in the 2008 election.” It said, the NDC has over the years matured and established an effective machinery to nominate its presidential and parliamentary candidates depending on credibility and loyalty and not through lobbying or impersonation. The accusations, it said, dictated what the group wished and not the party hierarchy, both at the national and constituency levels. The statement said the arguments raised by the spokesperson of the group, Mr George Agbavor could not sway the NDC from its wealth of experience and loyal supporters to deviate from principles that defined the eligibility of the parliamentary candidate. It therefore warned that no amount of tricks and intrigues would be allowed to tarnish the image of the incumbent MP. The executives were also considering the possibility of seeking legal advice on the matter, the statement also said.
