Ghana’s contingents in Africa club competitions Ashgold and Tema Youth would be in action this weekend in the CAF/MTN Champions League Competition and Confederations cup.At the Obuasi Len Clay Stadium, Ashgold’s resolve to advance to the league stage comes under severe test as they come face to face with Moroccan perenial contestants, AS FAR.And in far away Douala, Cameroon, Tema Youth, with modest ambitions of showcasing the stuff they are made of will play as guests of Astres de Douala. With Kotoko out of the competition, the hopes of Ghanaians hang on the two representatives and they would dare not disappoint. For Ashgold who have had a taste of African soccer, the clash represent another opportunity to rewrite their name in history. But against FAR who knows the Ghanaian terrain so well, Ashgold must marshal their forces and approach the match with all the seriousness it deserves.Much would depend on their attackers whose goal scoring rate have been very disappointing and still remains a headache for coach David Duncan. That is the more reason why Alex Asamoah, Shaibu Yakubu, Alhaji Saani and Alfred Arthur must remain focused and bang in the goals while Joe Hendricks, Kennedy Korley and Tony Baffour take care of the fast running FAR attackers who would be relying on counter attacks.Tema Youth may not have the big names to scare their opponent but that could be replicated with their team work to upset their Cameroonian counterparts.Heartily, players like Gado Mohammed, James Nanor and Joe Ansah have seen it before in their days with Olympics and Hearts and are expected to bring their experience to bear on the younger ones like Ekow Benson and Louis Quainoo.Times
