Ghana and Gabon kept their hopes of an Africa Youth Championship place alive with a point apiece from the first leg in Accra on Sunday.
The next 90 minutes of the second leg match in the final round of qualifying will prove crucial both sides played out a goalless draw at the Accra Stadium.
With a point apiece, the return game in Libreville in a fortnight will certainly determine which side reaches the Championship.
Sellas Tetteh's side could have claimed all the spoils in the first 45 minutes but their inability to find the back of the net left them with nothing.
Despite a promising opening half, the second half rather saw little from the Black Satellites as they could not create enough chances.
Ghana, who won silver in the last competition have a proud record, having won the Championship three times.
The winner of the two-leg third round qualifier will advance to the finals to be staged by Senegal.
Seven winners will join hosts, Senegal for the Championship slated for 8-22 March 2015.
