The Egyptian Football Association (EFA), under the chairmanship of Gamal Allam, has suspended Ramadan Sobhi after his dispute with the referee during the Under-20s African Youth Championship qualifier against Congo on Sunday.
The young Ahly attacking midfielder attacked the referee as he believed his decisions were biased against his side.
The team beat Congo in the second-leg of the final round of the tournament's qualifiers, but they lost their bid to play in the Senegal edition after losing 2-0 in the first leg.
The player's suspension will stop him from playing for the Olympic team in their important African qualifiers for the 2016 Rio de Janeiro games. They are meeting their Moroccan counterpart twice this week on 2 and 6 September.
Under Hossam El-Badry, the Under-23 Olympic team are finalising their preparations for Tuesday's game in their ongoing training camp in Morocco.
Sobhi's punishment period has not been announced yet.
