The latest poll released by Research International (R.I.) should be very worrying for the strategy team of the ruling New Patriotic Party (NPP).
In the main, it is good news that Nana is leading by 10%, his 48% to 38% of Prof. John Mills of the National Democratic Congress (NDC).
The worrying aspect is the reported political loss to the NPP of the Greater Accra Region.
In 2004, the NPP had over 5% edge over the NDC but the R.I. polls indicate that the NDC is leading by 7%. The polls on the parliamentary elections show that the gap is narrowing.
Perhaps, the results for the Central Region will be most worrying, especially in the presidential elections. As per the R.I. polls, the NPP is still leading the NDC by 3%, a far cry from the 2004 gap of 19%, which in voter terms, was in excess of 136,900!
The national poll results of the R.I. are:
Nana Akufo-Addo- 48%
Prof. Atta Mills 38%
Dr. Paa Kwesi Nduom- 8%
Dr. Edward Mahama- 2%
Undecided 4%
