The military has cautioned that the security agencies would not tolerate any misbehaviour by the youth at polling centres, during the December 7 elections, as they are determined to ensure peaceful polls. Captain Dela Klutse of the Third Battalion of Infantry in Sunyani, who gave the caution, was addressing more than 200 youth at Nkoranza, at the launch of “Operation Peace Angel”, in which 30 policemen and 21 soldiers staged a mock exercise against violence. He advised the youth of the various political parties to avoid being used by politicians to create problems during the elections, since they would be made to face the consequences of such acts. Capt Klutse called on the leadership of the parties to educate their supporters and sympathizers to comport themselves during and after the elections to ensure peace and understanding in all communities. “Nobody is above the laws of Ghana and anybody who will flout any of the electoral regulations would be dealt with accordingly, to serve as a deterrent to like-minded persons”, the military officer warned. Mr Peter Akwasi Denteh, Nkoranza District Police Commander promised that the police would do their best to ensure adequate security at all the polling stations in both Nkoranza North and South constituencies. He urged the public to be disciplined and to avoid behaviours and attitudes that could infringe electoral rules and regulations as they could face prosecution in court.
